Teeth Whitening

What is a Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is the process of normally using hydrogen peroxide gel to whiten the colour of your teeth. Oxygen enters the enamel and dentine, and they bleach the coloured substances of your teeth. It’s the best solution to treat the stains on your teeth caused by the foods and drinks that we ingest, especially coffee, tea, wine, tobacco and other darker coloured foods.

Philips Zoom is a take-home kit supplied by your dentist. It’s part of a new generation of whitening treatments which is faster and safer than ever. You should make use of them when you are asleep or during other short periods of the day. We will design a custom-fit tray, especially for your mouth to hold the whitening gel up against the outside of the teeth. DayWhite is to be used for a half-hour daily and NiteWhite, overnight.

How does Teeth Whitening Work?

With the Philips Zoom kit we will offer you, there will be a shade guide to monitor things along the process, besides your bespoke tooth-whitening trays made after your dentist took your impressions, and they only fit your teeth. You must look after them. Your tooth-whitening syringes are very easy to assemble. You need to unscrew and remove a small cap, then take one of the small nozzles within your whitening tube pack, and push and twist. You only need to remove the small rubber tip, pick up your bespoke tooth-whitening tray and put a small rice size in each tooth until every tooth has a small amount in it.

Am I suitable to get this treatment?

You will need to have a consultation with your dentist first before you can get treatment. Your teeth colour is set in stone, so whitening treatments cannot change the colour of any fillings, crowns or false teeth like dentures and veneers.

Alternative treatments

Dental veneers are a popular choice for those with chipped teeth, a gap between them or misshapen teeth. They are thin covers that adhere to teeth to give them a more classically shaped look.

Dental crowns are caps placed on top of damaged teeth, and they are used to protect and restore the original shape of your teeth when fillings fail to solve the problem. They don’t require special care over time other than good oral hygiene. It’s used to protect a weak tooth from decay, restore a broken tooth or cover a dental implant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about Teeth Whitenings?

There are dental whitening trays, whitening strips, or even whitening toothpaste, but the best option is Philips Zoom, which is an innovative treatment that can give you a smile up to 6 shades whiter and you can do it at home.

They can be provided by your dentist or in the pharmacy, and they are peroxide-based teeth whitening trays effective, but it will take weeks for results to show.

It depends on your diet and consumption of coffee, tea or wine because dark foods and drinks can dull the appearance of your teeth over time.

The safest and least invasive way to whiten your teeth is by using products prescribed by a dental professional, so ask us today, and we will assess you based on your particular case.

They are effective in removing surface stains from your teeth, but the results are not as good, safe and fast as with Philips Zoom.

Of course, but some genetic factors may prevent your teeth from whitening, so if you consult us, we will give you all the information.

They are effective as well, but their results will appear in over 2 weeks, when you will notice the stain is starting to disappear.

You need to be careful because they are more likely to pick up stains from coloured foods. Try to avoid coffee, red wine, tea, beets or berries. Wait a couple of days to eat, drink and smoke normally.

They usually wear over time and might require touch-ups every 5 months, so it will depend on your diet, smoking and consumption of coffee or wine.

Sensitivity after whitening should fade within 2 months, so if you use special toothpaste for sensitive teeth, that will help.

NiteWhite gives noticeable results in 2 weeks if you use it 2-4 hours at home every day or overnight. Day White is perfect if you want to wear trays for as short a time as possible, so you can wear them for 30-90 minutes once a day, and results will show in 2 weeks.

Hydrogen peroxide isn’t harmful per se. It improves your smile and gives you a boost of confidence. The only risk is that it could weaken the enamel in your teeth.

They usually take 2 weeks for results to show, but Zoom whitening could be completed in 1 hour if you required that special treatment.

Hydrogen peroxide is applied to your teeth, and this agent will enter the enamel, allowing oxygen in it to react with the stain molecules and divide them.

You shouldn’t drink tea, coffee or wine during the process, because they are very coloured substances which will stain your teeth and render the process pointless.

Teeth Whitening Treatment Process

What is the process in getting a teeth whitening?

Before you start, it’s important that you floss and brush your teeth so that it’s easier for the whitening gel to reach every available tooth surface, but you need to dry them thoroughly as well before seating your tray. Then you should seat the tray. If you notice some excess gel, this can be wiped away with some tissue. Leave them in place for the advised amount of time – 30-60 minutes for DayWhite and 8 hours for NiteWhite – and take them out when you’re ready. Then you should wash and store them back in the box provided.
